Our water experiences

By: Tania Zuur (New Zealand), YIP 2008–2009

Tania wrote down this poem, composed by a group of YIP participants, during the week with Michael d'Aleo.

Water.
The water coming around was getting pulled under.
There was air under.
And in a rhythmic way the air would jump up.
It was going against the water flow.
Tumbling, like the ocean with surfer waves.
The type of feeling that makes you want to put flowers in your hair.
When two energies came together it looked very sharp with a feeling that it moves upwards.
The rocks were moving upwards too, making me dizzy.
Left to right with a flip.
Also sideways up and sideways down.
Lots of different structures.
First i noticed how extremely alive the water was and then the pulsing.
Up like a spring and down like a
spiraling well, at the same time.
It looks like muscles – all working together.
Sliding.
The water was still and everything else was moving, moving away.
Like in a still train when you watch another train moving.
Looking at the river like looking at a train at first – glance, quick, focus on a point and then this dissolves and you get past this: the patterns appear.
Gliding.
Focus you eyes on nothing and everything simultaneously.
The ability to not see the world as objects.
Seeing the patterns in chaos.
One stream meets another in a “V” and they come into conflict, a rush, a wave.
Then peace before again finding their unique way, path and direction.
We were sitting very closed to enable our minds to be open.
When looking at the water with a conflict, it enables you to find new ways.
Coming down and folding back over.
A galloping herd of animals, trying to go upstream.
The sound of dripping water drives us nuts, flowing water we love.
The movement itself is the water.
Water is totally selfless.
